SaskTel is the leading communications provider in Saskatchewan.

In 2009, SaskTel began construction of a new $172 million Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) / High Speed Packet Access (HSPA+) wireless network, which would give Sasktel a 3G+ Network and hold 98% of the population of Saskatchewan under its coverage.

In 2010, SaskTel, activated their new HSPA+ network, now referred to as 4G.

In 2011, SaskTel announced that it would begin to deploy a new LTE (Long Term Evolution) wireless network. The 4G LTE network is tentatively scheduled to launch in the fall of 2012 in Regina and Saskatoon and surrounding areas, and will expand to other communities starting in 2013.
